Type or paste some text to see which words appear most.
Count words, characters, sentences, paragraphs and lines as you type, with estimated reading and speaking time and a word frequency table. Chinese and Japanese are split into words with your browser’s dictionary, and Chinese characters get their own count.
Type or paste text into Text, or click Sample.
Read the totals: Words, Characters, Without spaces, Chinese characters, Sentences, Paragraphs, Lines, Reading time and Speaking time.
Leave Language on Auto, or pick a language if words are being split incorrectly.
In Word frequency, use Ignore case, Hide stop words, Hide numbers, Minimum length and Bars in chart to focus the list.
Sort the table by word or count, and click CSV to export it.
No. Everything is counted in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, and the text is not saved: reloading the page clears it.
Words counts dictionary words, so a two-character word such as 完成 counts once. If an assignment asks for a Chinese character count, use Chinese characters, or Characters if punctuation should be included.
Reading assumes about 238 English words or 300 Chinese characters per minute (500 for Japanese); speaking assumes 150 words or 220 characters per minute. Treat them as rough guides.
Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line, Lines counts every line break, and Sentences uses your browser’s sentence detection for the selected language.
Density is a word’s share of all words in the text. Stop words are common words with little meaning, such as "the", "and", 的 or の; Hide stop words removes them from the frequency list.
