How to use Lorem Ipsum Generator

Generate placeholder text for mockups in classic Lorem ipsum, English-like words, Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Set the amount in paragraphs, sentences, words or characters, and copy or download it as plain text, HTML, Markdown or JSON.

    1. 1

Choose a Style, for example Lorem ipsum, English-like or 中文.

    2. 2

Under Generate by, pick Paragraphs, Sentences, Words or Characters, then enter How many or click one of the preset numbers.

    3. 3

For paragraphs, choose a Paragraph length; for Lorem ipsum, decide whether to start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…".

    4. 4

Pick an output Format and click Regenerate until you like the text.

    5. 5

Click Copy, or the download button to save it as .txt, .html, .md or .json.

    Frequently asked questions

Why is there no Words option for Chinese and Japanese?

Both are written without spaces between words, so for those styles you set the length in Characters instead.

How much text can I generate at once?

Up to 100 paragraphs, 500 sentences, 10,000 words or 100,000 characters.

Can I get exactly the same text again later?

Yes. Note the Seed: the same seed with the same settings always produces identical text. The dice button picks a new random seed.

Does the Chinese, Japanese or Korean text mean anything?

No. It looks like real writing (Japanese mixes kanji and hiragana, Korean uses real particles and endings), but the sentences are random and carry no meaning.

What do the HTML and JSON formats contain?

HTML wraps each paragraph in a <p> tag. JSON is an array of strings, one per paragraph, sentence, word or text block depending on the unit.
