    How to use Function Grapher

Plot several functions at once: y = f(x), parametric and polar curves. It marks roots, minima, maxima, intersections and y-intercepts with their coordinates, and exports the graph as PNG or SVG.

    1. 1

Type a function in the Functions list, such as sin(x) or x^2 - 4, or add one from Examples.

    2. 2

Click Add function for more curves, and switch a curve's type to Parametric (x(t), y(t) with a Range) or Polar (r in terms of θ).

    3. 3

Drag to pan and scroll or pinch to zoom; use Reset view or Fit y to curves to reframe.

    4. 4

Turn on Mark roots, extrema & intersections and read the coordinates under Points of interest.

    5. 5

Export the graph as PNG or SVG.

    Frequently asked questions

Are angles in degrees or radians?

Radians. sin(x) has a period of 2π here, unlike the Scientific Calculator, which defaults to degrees.

Why are no points marked on my parametric or polar curve?

Roots, extrema and intersections are found for y = f(x) curves only, and only within the visible area.

    Can I plot x^2 + y^2 = 1?

    Implicit equations are not supported. Plot a circle as a parametric curve, x = cos(t), y = sin(t), or as the polar curve r = 1.

How do I zoom one axis only?

Shift+scroll zooms x only and Alt+scroll zooms y only. With the keyboard, arrow keys pan and + / − zoom.

    Are my functions saved?

Yes. Your curves are kept in your browser's local storage on this device, so they are still there next time. Nothing is uploaded.
