How to use JPG to SVG

Convert JPG images into scalable SVG vector paths in your browser. Tracing can smooth away JPEG compression noise and drop a plain background, with presets for logos, posterized photos and black-and-white line art.

    1. 1

Drop JPG images on the page; PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and HEIC work too.

    2. 2

Under Style, pick Logo, Photo or Line art. Line art turns scans and signatures into black shapes on a transparent background.

    3. 3

If the result looks blotchy, raise Smoothing and Ignore specks under Fine-tuning, and lower Colors for flatter shapes.

    4. 4

Turn on Remove background to make a plain white or colored backdrop transparent, and check the result Side by side or with the Slider.

    5. 5

Click Download SVG or Copy SVG, or Convert all N to SVG (ZIP) for several images.

    Frequently asked questions

Why does my traced JPG have lots of tiny blotches?

JPEG compression adds faint blocks and noise that tracing turns into shapes. Raise Ignore specks to drop them, add Smoothing to merge them before tracing, and reduce Colors.

Can I get a transparent background from a JPG?

Yes. JPG has no transparency itself, but Remove background drops the color that fills the corners, so a logo or signature shot on white comes out on transparency.

How do I vectorize a signature or a sketch?

Choose Line art, which traces in black and white on a transparent background. Raise Ignore specks if paper texture leaves dots.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Tracing runs in a background worker in your browser, and the images stay on your device.

Will the SVG look exactly like my photo?

No. Tracing reduces the image to a limited set of flat colors, so photos become a stylized poster. Logos, icons and flat artwork give the cleanest results.

How do I make the SVG file smaller?

Use fewer Colors, raise Ignore specks and Curve tolerance, and lower Coordinate decimals. The SVG Optimizer can shrink the result further.
