How to use Change Video Speed

Speed a video up or slow it down, from 0.1× to 8×. Voices can keep their natural pitch, and the player already plays at the chosen speed so you can check the result before saving.

    1. 1

Drop a video on the page.

    2. 2

Pick a preset from 0.25× to 4×, or click Custom and type any speed.

    3. 3

Under Sound, keep Keep pitch on for natural voices, or turn on Remove sound.

    4. 4

Optionally pick an output Format, click Change speed, then Download.

    Frequently asked questions

    Will slow motion look smooth?

Frames are repeated or dropped to keep the original frame rate; no in-between frames are invented. Strong slow motion therefore looks smooth only if the video was filmed at a high frame rate.

    What does Keep pitch do?

The sound is time-stretched instead of played faster, so voices do not sound like chipmunks when sped up or deep and growly when slowed down.

How long will the new video be?

The new length is shown under the speed buttons, for example a 60-second clip at 2× becomes 30 seconds.

Why is the output fixed to MP4 for some files?

If your browser cannot decode the video's codec, the ffmpeg engine is used. It downloads once (about 32 MB), is slower, and saves the result as MP4.

    Is my video uploaded?

No. The speed change is computed in your browser, using hardware video encoding where available.
