    Frequently asked questions

    GIF or animated WebP?

GIF plays everywhere but is limited to 256 colors per frame and gets large. Animated WebP is usually several times smaller with full color and plays in every modern browser, though some chat apps and older programs only accept GIF.

How do I make the GIF smaller?

Lower the frame rate or width, use fewer Colors, switch Palette to Shared, turn off Dithering, and keep Reuse unchanged pixels on. Spans over 15 seconds make very large GIFs.

    What is the largest width?

800 pixels, or the video's own width if it is smaller. The height follows the video's aspect ratio.

    Will the GIF have sound?

No. GIF and animated WebP are image formats without audio.

    Is the video uploaded?

No. Frames are decoded and encoded in your browser, and the video never leaves your device.
