Make videos smaller in your browser, one or many at a time. Pick a quality preset, or set a size limit such as 10 MB for Discord and the bitrate is worked out for you. An estimated size is shown before you start, and nothing is uploaded.
Drop one or more videos on the page. MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, FLV, WMV and 3GP are accepted.
Under Compress by, choose Quality and pick High, Balanced or Small file, or choose File size and pick a limit under Fit under (8 to 50 MB, or Custom).
If needed, change Codec, Max resolution and Frame rate, or turn on Remove audio; the Estimated size updates as you go.
Click Compress video, then Download, or Download all (ZIP) when you compressed several files.
No. Compression runs in your browser with WebCodecs, which uses your device’s hardware video encoder where available. Files never leave your device.
Choose File size and pick 10 MB or 16 MB, or enter any size with Custom. The bitrate is calculated from the video’s length, and if that budget is too small for a sharp picture, the resolution is lowered automatically and noted in the result.
Almost always. If an encode comes out too big, it is redone at a lower bitrate; in rare cases a file still lands a little over the target and is marked that way. If the video is simply too long to fit, you are asked to pick a larger size, trim it, or remove the audio.
Yes, compression re-encodes the video, which is lossy. High keeps fine detail with differences that are hard to spot, Balanced suits most videos, and Small file is softer. If a file would not get any smaller and is already in the output format, the original is kept.
AV1 gives the smallest files and HEVC is about 40% smaller than H.264, but both need a recent device to play. H.264 plays everywhere, and VP9 produces WebM for the web. Only codecs your browser can encode are offered.
They are compressed with ffmpeg instead. The ffmpeg engine is downloaded once (about 32 MB) and runs much slower than the hardware path, but it still runs on your device.
